Type Hierarchy

Typography plays a critical role in establishing the tone of FLOR’s brand expression. The system is built around four typefaces, including a new custom display font, all strategically picked to complement and balance one another.

Predefined paragraph styles and baselines will help maintain consistency and clarity in all brand pieces and communications.

Paragraph Styles

Paragraph styles have been established to quickly pick up and use in any hand-held sized print materials. Do not create additional styles — these styles are designed to cover all needs. Simply load in the paragraph styles from the guidelines document by going to the menu within the Paragraph Styles palette, selecting Load Paragraph Styles and finally choosing this document.

Align to Baseline

All hand-held sized print materials are built on a 6pt baseline grid which helps to create consistent alignments throughout the system. The leading (line-height) of all character styles should be divisible by 6pt. All type should be set to align to baseline. This can be done through Paragraph Style Options > Indents and Spacing > Align to Grid or the bottom right of the Paragraph palette.

Brand Typefaces

Worchester EF

The primary type in the FLOR system, Worchester EF is friendly by design. A humanist type, it is highly readable and approachable, balancing warmth and easy confidence with a sense of play. At large sizes, in Demi-Bold weight, it commands attention and interest. As body copy, it remains legible and user-friendly. It comes in a variety of bold weights, and along with italics, can be used for emphasis.

Replica Pro

Replica Pro is a highly functional, utilitarian sans serif type that maintains legibility even in smaller use cases, such as inline titles and supporting details like product color names or image captions. It reflects some of the details of FLOR Mono and pairs well with Worchester to maintain balance across any written piece.

Pitch

Pragmatic and diagrammatical, Pitch is ideal for smaller, technical details and numerical specifications (such as price or sizing information). It shares certain geometric characteristics with Replica to ensure unity and cohesion across the type system.
